Sony Alpha SLT-A57K 16.1 MP Exmor APS HD CMOS Sensor DSLR with Translucent Mirror Technology, 3D Sweep Panorama and 18-55mm Zoom Lens
Sony has announced a new camera type SLT (Single-Lens Translucent), to interchangeable lenses, but without the typical moving mirror reflex. In its place a "translucent mirror", semi-transparent mirror. Translucent Mirror Technology distributes the incoming light simultaneously to the CMOS sensor and the AF sensor, allowing continuous autofocus for photos and video.
The new Sony A57 can shoot at 10 frames per second in normal mode (for up to 25 shots) and 12 pictures per second, continuous auto-focus tele-zoom mode Continuous Advance Priority AE (the resolution drops however, to 8.4 megapixels).
The shutter operates with time between 30 seconds and 1/4000 of a second. 1/160 second x-sync speed.
The built-in flash guide number is 10.
Now the gap is traced, and Sony continues without hesitation along a commercial street in mind: compact cameras increasingly feature-rich, mirrorless interchangeable lenses to NEX (the excellent recent Sony and Sony NEX NEX-5N-7) and SLT machines.
The Alpha A57 provides a comfortable grip and a rich set of commands generously sized (the design is that of an SLR). The machine measures 132 x 98 x 81 mm and weighs 618 grams with the battery inserted.
On the back of a monitor swivel Xtra Fine with a diagonal of 3 inches and a resolution of 921.600 pixels. The electronic viewfinder True-Finder offers a 100% coverage and a resolution of 1.44 million dots.
