EOS 5D Mark III and Light Filter: Here is the response of Canon

As we wrote in detail (5D Mark III, Filter Light in the Body: Canon admits it) a week ago, then came the promise of Canon ("investigate"), there is now an official statement that addresses the problem that left a little 'filler canonists a few weeks after the launch of one of the most anticipated cameras.
The presence of a possible network problem was reported by photographers who had already managed to buy the Canon EOS 5D Mark III (see the presentation of the machine) and had found that, in very specific shooting situations, the light that filtered from the LCD panel top ended up putting in crisis the exposure system of the machine.

What Canon says?

Here is the full text of the announcement appeared in support of Canon Italy (apparently the problem is related only to certain machines, which will indicate the serial number):

"In the digital SLR camera EOS 5D Mark III, when the LCD panel lights up in dark environments, the exposure value displayed may vary. As service expected, Canon has decided to solve this problem. For this purpose, are provided the details shown below.

Products Affected
Digital SLR cameras EOS 5D Mark III with serial number when the sixth digit is 1 or 2.

For example, "xxxxx1xxxxxx" or "xxxxx2xxxxxx" (the x's indicate any numbers)

Cause

* In very dark, if the LCD panel is lit, the exposure value may vary. However, when using the camera with a lens attached, the change in the value of exposure has no significant effect on the shoot or capture.

* Below are some examples of dark circles:

1. When it is applied to the lid of the body
2. When applied to the lens cover
